One of the most audacious scientific experiments ever undertaken. And the results are astounding.
A balanced diet is obviously better
When it comes to eating healthy, most men think that involves ordering a side salad and chips, instead of just the chips.
Let's face it; we are all ex-sports stars who could have gone on to play for our country, right? But due to a minor knee injury on the dancefloor at a mate’s 18th, that dream never became a reality. As we’ve spent less time being active over the years, we haven't been great at making adjustments to our lifestyles. With every year that goes by, we find shifting those 1 or 2kgs (read 10kgs) gets harder and harder.
So a bunch of science boffins have taken a break from building rockets, and pulled together some pretty simple guidelines to follow. They're called the Australian Dietary Guidelines. We’re not sure how they came up with the name...crazy rocket scientists. But they’re simple to follow and they’ve found a way to include all the things you love to eat.
Beef and lamb can help make humankind the best it can be.
They’re really good for you. So good, in fact, the Aussie Dietary Guidelines reckon you should eat red meat like beef or lamb 3 to 4 times a week in palm-sized portions, as part of a healthy balanced diet.
Why, exactly? Well, for starters, they’re packed with important stuff that your body needs - like protein, iron, and zinc.
Sculpting a summer rig?
Protein helps you build and maintain lean muscle mass, and beef and lamb are packed with it. Not to mention, nine amino acids that your body can’t produce without having protein. So go ahead, chuck some in a blender and make the ultimate protein shake. On second thoughts, probably smarter to stick to the grill.
It’s no coincidence Arnie loves to pump Iron.
Iron and protein are the building blocks for energy and can help you bash out a few more curls, or run a few more k’s. Plus, iron is important to help your brain think and develop. In the caveman days that meant you could outsmart a lion.....today, it just means you’re smart enough to know your missus is always right.
Zinc isn’t just something to whack on your face during cricket season.
It also helps with normal brain function, your vision and keeping your immune system in fighting shape. Which means you can spot an opportunity for a good boys night a mile away, and you’ll dodge the man-flu each year.
So what do you really need to know?
To be at your best, eat red meat like beef and lamb 3 to 4 times a week in palm-sized portions, as part of a healthy balanced diet.
A healthy balanced meal consists of 1-2 serves of Protein (like Beef & Lamb), 1-2 serves of Carbs, and 3+ serves of Veggies.
Beef and lamb, trimmed of all visible fat, contain less than 4% saturated fat and less than 670kJ (160kcal) per 100g. So it can keep you a lean, mean machine.
Beef and lamb are packed with important nutrients that your body needs to develop, like protein, iron, and zinc.
CONCLUSION:
Well then, that’s some good news! The changes you need to make don’t have to be drastic. You’ll see big changes simply by making a few small adjustments. Beef and lamb are a crucial part of a healthy, balanced diet and can help humankind be the best they can possibly be.
